A NEW venture has been launched by two charities to provide grounds maintenance across Hampshire while improving the employment prospects for the jobless.
Green Insight, based in Southampton and Gosport, will maintain green spaces and undertake small building projects but unlike other companies its workforce will include both seasoned professionals and unemployed people.
Set up by Groundwork Solent and Wheatsheaf Trust it aims to deliver a professional service while helping people learn new skills that will improve their long-term employment prospects.
Green Insight business sales manager Tim Davies said: “First and foremost, this is a business set up to provide a high quality grounds maintenance service to local businesses and public sector organisations.
"But it does also fulfil an important role by offering employment, training and valuable work-life skills to local people.
"All profits made are also returned to the charities, so our customers know that they are not only getting a professional service they are also putting something back into the community.”
