Free energy checks for 100 Winchester homes

A HUNDRED Winchester households will receive a free home energy check worth £250 from Winchester Action on Climate Change.

WinACC has won Government funding to help residents and five community buildings assess ways they can cut their domestic carbon footprint.

The check will look at building insulation, heating, hot water and lighting and how much energy is used by appliances such as washing machines. WinACC also plans to give up to £10,000 to the owner of a home in a conservation area or a listed building in Winchester district to help them put insulation on the inside of their external walls. The works must be finished and the bills in by March 31.

Anyone interested should send their name, address and contact details, the address of the property, a picture and brief description of the property (age, size, number of floors, number of rooms, whether vacant) by email to solidwalls@winacc.org.uk by this Friday February 10, with a short note to say why they would be the right person for the judges to choose.
