Success for Winchester rugby youngsters
6:20am Thursday 11th February 2010

Winchester’s under-12s rugby team reached the final of their age-group competition during the mini tournament at the Rugby Club on Sunday.
They were unbeaten in the pool section of their competition, having defeated New Milton 2-1 in the opening game before romping to a 7-1 victory over Basingstoke. Neither Salisbury nor Winchester were able to score in the drawn third game but the Winchester team beat Chippenham 5-1 in the final game in Pool A, thereby claiming a place in the age-group final.
In that final they faced the winners of Pool B, Havant, who went on to claim a 1-0 victory and the trophy.
A similar competition for ‘development squads’ is taking place this weekend and the competition gets underway at Winchester Rugby Club at 10.30am.
